Citizen, after all.

As the child of immigrants, I’ve had dual citizenship my entire life. However, before you turn 21, the Spanish government makes you sign a letter saying you actually want to be a citizen, I signed it when I turned 18. Last I checked with the embassy a couple of years ago, they had lost that letter, but I was still 20, so I signed it again, but I never actually checked if I kept my citizenship. I’m yet to renew my passport and it has been expired for... four years, and they asked proof of citizenship... which I don’t actually have?

But, getting these ballot registrations late is a reminder that I’m still a citizen, I guess. I would’ve been able to vote, where it not for the fact that the Spanish mail sent these almost six weeks late. Oh well.
