I’m 22 and in college and my dad is retiring and now I’m on my own for insurance. I don’t know what to do but I have till the 15th of December to enroll in a plan. I’m 22 male with depression, anxiety and ADHD and need to be able to go to my doctors appointments and be able to afford my medications. I made $10,000 last year and made less this year and I’m just trying to figure this all out. Plus it’s finals week at college so I’m trying to do that as well. I only go 3/4 time to school if that matters
Update: I’m eligible for Medicaid and now have to pick a health care plan to go with it. I’m trying to figure out how to pick out of my options and to see if all of my doctors and especially my medications are covered.
2nd Update: Hello,
I just wanted to update you on the whole insurance situation. I did get accepted and enrolled in Medicaid on the 15th of December then I had until the 30th to pick one of 8 providers. I did a lot of phone calls and research and found that only Molina healthcare would allow me to keep my doctors(with a couple of hoops to jump through) and all but one of my medications (Adderal will however be covered through straight medicaid). So I ended up choosing them as they are my best option. As part of the program I can only be billed up to 5% of my total income each quarter. This means that not only will I have health insurance but I will be able to afford it as well. This is good news for me as I need my healthcare to remain healthy enough to go to class and work and to live my life. Also I did everything in time so there will be no gap in coverage. Thanks for your support with this.
